Houselisting in Varanasi begins from Baba Kashi Vishwanath Dham
VARANASI, May 23 -- After completing self-enumeration, houselisting for the country's first fully digital census commenced in Varanasi from the premises of Baba Kashi Vishwanath Temple on Friday.
Assistant municipal commissioner Mrityunjay Narayan Mishra led the start of the enumeration. The enumerators will now reach every household in the city to collect details about the houses.
The entire process is being conducted via a mobile application, ensuring data accuracy and transparency. Through a specialised application, enumerators digitally record responses to 33 key questions concerning the houses and associated properties.
For this exercise, the entire district has been divided into 14 'Charge Areas,' which include Tehsils, the eight zones of the Municipal Corporation, Nagar Panchayats, the Cantonment Board and major areas such as BLW. This comprehensive campaign will continue until June 20, by which time every single household in Varanasi will have been listed.
Municipal commissioner Himanshu Nagpal stated that 5,800 enumerators have been trained and deployed to conduct the census for the district's population, which exceeds 4 million.
All enumerators and supervisors have been instructed to carry out their duties in their respective allocated areas with the utmost seriousness and impartiality. They have been provided with duty cards, census kits, and maps of their respective areas to ensure no errors occur during the enumeration process....
