LUCKNOW, May 23 -- Armed and masked robbers looted cash and jewellery worth more than Rs.1 crore from the house of a grocery trader in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki district in the early hours of Friday, police said. The incident took place at around 3 am in Gwari village under the Deva police station area. According to police, seven robbers entered the two-storey house of trader Alok Jaiswal after breaking open the rear door. The robbers allegedly held the family hostage at gunpoint, tied their hands and legs with ropes and taped their mouths before searching the house for nearly an hour. According to the family, the robbers escaped with nearly Rs.12 lakh in cash and jewellery worth around Rs.90 lakh. Barabanki additional SP (North) Vikas Chandra Tripathi said five police teams had been formed to investigate the case.
