LUCKNOW, July 9 -- The administration of Lok Bandhu Raj Narain (LBRN) Hospital is set to submit an interim report on Thursday to the state's higher medical authorities in connection with the death of a newborn who allegedly fell to the floor during delivery in the hospital's labour room. The inquiry committee completed recording the statements of the remaining employees on Wednesday after questioning doctors, nursing staff and other personnel on duty during the incident over the past two days, said chief medical superintendent Dr PC Tiwari. The committee is yet to complete its investigation despite directions from deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak. The panel constituted by D-G (medical and health) Dr Pawan Kumar Arun has also failed to submit its report so far. Repeated attempts were made to contact Arun over the phone for his response, but he could not be reached. "Statements of employees concerned have now been recorded. Hospital officials are preparing the interim report, which is likely to be submitted to the director-general (medical and health) on Thursday," Tiwari said. On the postmortem examination, Tiwari said the hospital has not yet officially received the report. "We have not received any information regarding the post-mortem findings so far. No one will be spared if negligence is established in the newborn death case," he said. However, sources familiar with the investigation claimed that the post-mortem indicates the newborn died due to a traumatic head injury, suggesting injuries consistent with the alleged fall. The incident occurred on July 5, when a newborn allegedly slipped from the hands of hospital staff and fell onto the floor during delivery in the labour room. htc...
