LUCKNOW, Aug. 31 -- The family of Barabanki resident Manoj Kumar, who was declared brain-stem dead at Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS), donated his organs, giving hope to three patients. Manoj was admitted on August 25 and treated in the Emergency ECU under Dr SS Nath. He was declared brain-stem dead by Dr PK Maurya, Dr Ritu Karoli, Dr SS Nath and Dr Arvind Kumar Singh, despite treatment. Grief counsellor Subhash Shukla and transplant coordinator Benedict Minj counselled the family under Dr Sandeep Kumar Yadav and Dr SS Nath. Santosh Mishra and Laxman Tiwari consented to donation. Dr Arvind Kumar Singh coordinated retrieval. Urologists Dr Ishwar Ram Dhayal, Dr Alok Srivastava and Dr Sanjeet Singh, anaesthesiologists Dr PK Das and Dr Nidhi Shukla, and nephrologists Dr Abhilash Chandra and Dr Namrata Rao assisted. Forensic doctors Dr Pradeep and Dr Alok and police personnel completed formalities. The process was guided by director prof CM Singh. The liver and one kidney went to SGPGI. The other kidney was transplanted at RMLIMS into a 44-year-old Faizabad woman. The family said donation would bring peace to Manoj's soul and inspire others....
