Highway robbery accused held after police encounter
Agra, Sept. 18 -- Mathura police arrested a robbery accused after an encounter on Tuesday night. The accused, Shakeel alias Bhura, sustained a leg injury during the exchange of fire.
Shakeel was wanted in a case registered at Refinery police station after he, along with two others, had robbed a truck on Bareilly highway on September 15.
]The gang had targeted a truck carrying goods for Flipkart, leaving those inside unconscious before looting valuables and cash.
Circle officer (Refinery) Shweta Verma said that two of Shakeel's associates, Arshad and Shoorveer Navkumar of Delhi, were arrested earlier on September 16. On Tuesday night, police flagged down a suspicious motorcyclist during routine checking, but he tried to flee and opened fire at the police team. He was injured in retaliatory firing and later identified as Shakeel, a resident of Mainpuri district. He has been admitted to the district hospital....
