hC seeks report on availability of drinking water in cow shelters
JODHPUR, June 17 -- The Rajasthan High Court on Tuesday granted the State government one last opportunity to submit a detailed report on the availability of drinking water in goshalas (cow shelters) across the state, while observing that the matter appeared fit for initiation of contempt proceedings. A Division Bench of Justice Nupur Bhati and Justice Baljinder Singh Sandhu passed the order while hearing a contempt petition filed by Go Gram Sewa Sangh.
During the hearing, counsel appearing for the State submitted that adequate care had been taken to address the drinking water situation in goshalas during the summer season. The State placed a report before the Court stating that water facilities were being regularly provided to cattle in goshalas located in six districts - Ajmer, Nagaur, Churu, Barmer, Sirohi and Banswara. It was further submitted that most goshalas had their own drinking water resources.
However, counsel for the petitioner Sangh opposed the report and argued that it did not present the actual position regarding drinking water availability. htc...
