HC's interim relief to DElEd ODL candidates
LUCKNOW, July 2 -- In an interim relief, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court on Wednesday permitted candidates who were in service prior to March 31, 2015 and have completed the 18-month Diploma in Elementary Education (DElEd) through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) to appear provisionally in the UP TET-2026.
However, the court directed that their examination results shall not be declared until the final disposal of the special appeal or until further orders. The order was passed by a division bench of Justice Rajan Roy and Justice Manjive Shukla in a special appeal filed by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission, Prayagraj.
The bench clarified that the interim relief would be available only to those candidates who were already in service before March 31, 2015. The court observed that candidates appointed after the said date would have to establish under which statutory provision they were appointed without possessing the mandatory TET qualification.
The court further observed that the issue regarding the validity of the 18-month DElEd (ODL) qualification and its recognition for TET eligibility is still under judicial consideration. htc...
