PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 16 -- The Allahabad high court on Wednesday reserved its verdict in a habeas corpus petition in which Farrukhabad police were alleged to have forced the petitioner to withdraw her plea. During the proceedings, Farrukhabad superintendent of police (SP) Arti Singh, submitted an unconditional apology by filing an affidavit before the court. The bench, comprising justices JJ Munir and Sanjiv Kumar, heard the matter concerning the petition filed by Preeti Yadav, who had claimed that her husband was illegally detained by police officials and that she was forced to sign certain documents. During the hearing, an application was filed by Awdhesh Kumar Mishra, a lawyer from Farrukhabad, through his counsels -- senior advocate Amrendra Nath Singh and advocate Prashant Singh Rinku. The application alleged that Yadav had filed the petition on legal advice, and that an FIR was lodged against Mishra to pressure him. Advocate Prashant Singh Rinku confirmed that the court reserved its verdict after hearing all parties on Wednesday. Preeti Yadav had alleged in the petition that the second and third petitioners were illegally detained by the police at around 9pm on September 8 and released at around 11pm on September 14. It was also alleged that during the detention, she was forced to write a letter.
