LUCKNOW, Sept. 18 -- The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court on Thursday quashed a vigilance inquiry against 2006-batch IAS officer Abhishek Prakash in an alleged bribery case linked to Invest UP. Justice Rajeev Singh allowed Prakash's petition challenging orders dated March 20 and March 28, 2025, directing the probe into alleged disproportionate assets. The court observed that no affidavit was filed with the complaint, the inquiry was ordered hastily on the same day without placing the matter before the State Vigilance Committee, and a departmental proceeding was already pending. Once the complainant himself admitted that the complaint was false, all proceedings based on it fall, the court added. The case arose from a complaint by Biswajit Datta, an official of SAEL Solar P6 Pvt Ltd, alleging that a senior Invest UP officer had given him the mobile number of private person Nikant Jain and said his company's proposed solar cell manufacturing project in YEIDA would be approved if he contacted Jain.
