Lucknow, Sept. 1 -- The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court has directed the municipal commissioner to investigate an allegation that BJP corporator Krishna Narayan Singh had set up an office in a public park and was holding meetings there. A division bench of justice Alok Mathur and justice Amitabh Kumar Rai passed the order on August 20 on a petition filed by local resident Sultan Tanveer Khan. Khan alleged that the corporator of Kharika First Ward had constructed permanent structures on 0.2280 hectares of land in Kharikapur First Ward, recorded as banjar in revenue records and being used as a park. He said repeated complaints to the authorities had failed to bring action. The court noted that the land now falls within Lucknow Municipal Corporation limits and allowed Khan to file a fresh complaint before the municipal commissioner. It directed the commissioner to investigate and, if illegal encroachment is found, take appropriate action within three months. The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has directed the Superintendent of Police (SP), Unnao, to probe allegations that a man was illegally detained at Hasanganj police station for three days and robbed of jewellery, cash, mobile phones and cartridges. A division bench of justice Rajnish Kumar and justice Babita Rani passed the order on August 25 while hearing a petition by Ram Kumar. He alleged that he was detained from July 27 to July 30, 2026, without any prosecution being initiated against him. Kumar also alleged that police personnel and another person took jewellery worth Rs 14 lakh, Rs 35,000 in cash, two mobile phones and around 15 cartridges from him. The court directed the SP to examine and preserve CCTV footage from the police station for the period and produce it with the inquiry report and the state's reply.
