HC for fresh proposals to make schools responsible
LUCKNOW, May 20 -- The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court has granted further time to the state government to study traffic management in and around the vicinity of schools in Lucknow. The court further asked that fresh proposals be submitted as discussed in meetings between school authorities and the district administration.
The court had asked the state government to circulate a proposal to formulate certain guidelines making schools responsible for traffic management in their vicinity.
A division bench of justices Alok Mathur and Brij Raj Singh passed the order on May 15 while hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by the Gomti River Bank Residents Welfare Association, pertaining to traffic problems near schools in the state capital.
The state counsel informed the court that two rounds of meetings were held with the school authorities as well as officers of the state, and were fruitful to some extent.
Proposals have come from the school authorities as well as the state officials with regard to effective traffic management in and around the educational institutions of the city.
It was further submitted that the proposals are being looked into in all seriousness by the institutions as well as by the state authorities and some more time is required to come to some effective implementable proposal(s) in this regard.
"In the light of above, further time is granted to study the said issue and submit fresh proposals as discussion in the said meetings," the court ordered.
The matter has been listed for further hearing on July 16....
