PRAYAGRAJ, July 30 -- The Allahabad high court on Wednesday dismissed a writ petition filed by the Maulana Ali Jauhar Trust in Rampur, challenging demolition notices issued to the Jauhar University campus. When the matter was heard, the petitioner informed the court that, following the demolition notice, an appeal had been filed before the Commissioner of Moradabad, the designated appellate authority who had already issued an interim order in the case. On the ground of subsequent development and the grant of an interim order, a division bench comprised of Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi and Justice Kunal Ravi Singh dismissed the petition at this stage. It is to recall that the Rampur Development Authority (RDA) issued a demolition notice to Mohammad Ali Jauhar University, directing the management to remove 38 of allegedly unauthorised structures within 15 days or face demolition Maulana Ali Jauhar University was founded by Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan under the Mohammad Ali Jauhar Trust in 2006. It was granted university status in 2012. The university has remained the centrepiece of Azam's political legacy.
