PRAYAGRAJ, May 16 -- The Allahabad high court on Friday dismissed a contempt application filed against Swami Avimukteshwaranand and his disciple, in which he has been accused of disobeying court directions issued while granting him anticipatory bail in a Pocso case registered in Prayagraj. The petition was filed by Ashutosh Maharaj, the first informant in the Pocso FIR. According to the applicant, Swami Avimukteshwaranand and his disciple - Mukundanand Brahmachari violated the high court's anticipatory bail order dated March 25 by holding meetings and making public statements despite restrictions imposed by the court. Dismissing the contempt application, filed by Ashutosh Maharaj, justice Dinesh Pathak observed that Ashutosh Maharaj has the remedy to file an application for cancellation of anticipatory bail granted by the court, if they are violating bail conditions. The high court had directed that the accused, the victims and the first informant shall not give any interview to the media regarding the case during the pendency of investigation or trial.
