Hathras police destroy Rs.7.72 cr worth of drugs in Op Dahan
Agra, March 27 -- The Hathras police, acting on a directive from the state government, destroyed 249.604 kilograms of narcotic drugs and intoxicants, valued at an estimated Rs 7.72 crore in the international market. The drugs were destroyed on Wednesday as part of 'Operation Dahan,' a state-wide campaign running from March 1 to May 31 this year.
Hathras superintendent of police (SP) Chiranjeev Nath Sinha informed that under 'Operation Dahan,' seized narcotics and intoxicants stored in the 'mal-khana' (store room) of various police stations in Hathras were collected. They were subsequently destroyed in an incinerator (furnace) located in Etmadpur town in Agra.
SP Sinha stated that the campaign was launched following directions from the state government to systematically destroy such illegal substances recovered in various cases. 'Operation Dahan' will continue across the state until May 31, 2026. The police aim to send a strong message to the public that the network involved in illegal drug smuggling will be completely dismantled....
