Haridwar Kumbh gets Rs.115.61 crore sanitation boost
Dehradun, June 13 -- The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) has approved Rs.115.61 crore for implementation of an Integrated Sanitation, Solid and Liquid Waste and Public Health Management Plan for the Haridwar Kumbh Mela-2027.
The approval was granted during the 70th meeting of the Executive Committee of NMCG. The project, to be funded entirely under the Central Sector scheme, aims to ensure a clean, safe and environmentally sustainable arrangement for the millions of devotees expected to visit Haridwar during the religious congregation.
Under the sanctioned plan, authorities will establish 13,915 toilets, 8,065 urinals and 2,000 bathing units across the mela area. To strengthen solid waste management, provisions have been made for 4,840 dustbins, 3.13 million liner bags, 491 waste collection vehicles, two trash booms, 15 ghat-cleaning machines, 190 spraying machines and tractors, 55 fogging machines and 30 grass-cutting machines.
Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the approved funds would significantly strengthen sanitation, solid waste management, public health services and monitoring systems during the 2027 Kumbh Mela....
