GRP recovers 237 lost, stolen phones worth Rs.45L
LUCKNOW, May 13 -- The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Lucknow has recovered 237 lost and stolen mobile phones, collectively worth nearly Rs.45 lakh, and returned them to their rightful owners, officials said on Tuesday.
The phones were traced through a joint operation involving GRP personnel and surveillance teams. Several devices were recovered from various districts of Uttar Pradesh as well as other states, including Bihar.
Lucknow GRP SP Rohit Mishra said the recovery drive utilised technical surveillance and the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal. Of the 237 recovered phones, around 90 were traced through the CEIR platform.
Mishra added, "The surveillance team and local police units worked together to trace mobile phones lost or stolen during train journeys. Many devices were recovered from Bihar and other states."
The GRP handed over the recovered phones to owners from 13 districts during a distribution programme. Many beneficiaries said they had little hope of getting their devices back, especially after several months had passed since the loss.htc...
