PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 9 -- Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Tuesday extended support to teacher recruitment aspirants protesting at the designated demonstration site near the All Saints Cathedral, urging the government to listen to their demands and restore the old recruitment rules and examination pattern. The aspirants have been demanding that advertisements for vacant teaching posts in government-aided secondary schools and intermediate colleges be issued under the previous rules and examination pattern. Their indefinite hunger strike entered its fourth day on Tuesday. Singh said sudden changes in recruitment rules had put candidates who had been preparing for the examinations for years in a difficult situation. He assured the protesters that he would write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on the issue on Wednesday and seek their intervention. He also said he would try to raise the matter in Parliament if its proceedings were underway. Chaudhary Anil Singh, state president of Yuva Manch, said the agitation for restoration of the old rules and examination pattern had been continuing since June 11. Representatives had submitted letters to BJP ministers, MPs, MLAs and other public representatives in all 75 districts, seeking recruitment advertisements under the earlier system, but no concrete decision had been taken so far. Meanwhile, students under the banner of Sanyukt Pratiyogi Chhatra Hunkar Manch took out a candle march on Tuesday against the proposed changes in rules and examination patterns for TGT-PGT, primary and junior teacher recruitments. The march, led by the students' forum, was taken out from Salori Shani Dev temple to Ishwar Sharan Degree College. The protesters demanded restoration of the old rules and examination pattern and early release of advertisements and an examination calendar for pending teacher recruitments. The students said sudden changes in the recruitment process would adversely affect candidates who had been preparing for years. They also paid tribute to students killed in the Delhi incident....
