Govt seeks explanation from KGMU over regularisation of ad hoc staff
LUCKNOW, June 10 -- The Uttar Pradesh government has sought a detailed explanation from King George's Medical University (KGMU) over the regularisation of ad hoc employees and the extension of service benefits to them, according to an official communication sent to the university administration.
HT has accessed the letter dated May 29, 2026, in which Kratika Sharma, special secretary, medical education department, Uttar Pradesh, wrote to the KGMU vice-chancellor seeking details of the rules, government orders, or legal provisions under which several ad-hoc appointees were regularised and later granted benefits such as seniority, promotions, and pay scales available to regular employees.
According to official sources, the government has also asked the university to clarify the basis on which these service benefits were extended.
KGMU authorities are expected to examine the relevant records and provisions governing the appointments before submitting their response to the state government....
