Government in action mode for full RTE enrolment
Lucknow, April 23 -- The state government has shifted into action mode to ensure 100% enrolment of underprivileged children allotted seats under the Right to Education (RTE) Act for the 2026-27 academic year.
Issuing stern directives to all District Magistrates and District Basic Education Officers (BSAs), Additional Chief Secretary for Basic and Secondary Education Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma said all eligible children must be enrolled by April 25, 2026, with no laxity tolerated at any level.
The government has taken serious note of the gap between allocations and admissions. Of 1,95,740 seats allotted under the RTE Act, only 1,08,866 children have been admitted so far. Officials have been asked to take swift action to ensure enrolment of the remaining children.
Instructions mandate compiling a list of children yet to be admitted and facilitating their enrolment without delay. Authorities have been told to coordinate closely with schools to avoid any bottlenecks in the process. The state has also ordered strict monitoring of the campaign, with daily reviews at the district level. Officials have been directed to act with full accountability to meet the deadline. Any negligence will invite strict action, with responsibility fixed on those concerned. htc...
