GORAKHPUR, May 3 -- Dr Amarkant Singh, district inspector of schools (DIoS), Gorakhpur, breathed his last at a private hospital in Lucknow on Saturday afternoon, confirmed Kiran Otey, vice principal, Government Jubilee Inter College, Gorakhpur. Dr Singh, 57, was suffering from liver cancer. His demise sent shockwaves across the education fraternity in Gorakhpur and nearby districts. He had been serving as the DIoS, Gorakhpur, since 2023.
