PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 30 -- An eight-year-old girl was killed after being struck by a speeding, out-of-control car near Dhanni village under the Sandipan Ghat police station area of Kaushambi on Thursday morning. The child succumbed to her injuries while being taken to hospital. The victim, Sumitra, a resident of Dhanni village, had gone to a public tap near her home around 6 am to fetch water. While returning home along the side of the GT Road carrying a bucket of water, she was allegedly hit from behind by a speeding car traveling from Kanpur towards Prayagraj. The impact threw the child several meters away, leaving her critically injured.
