Ghazipur: 12 shepherds, 2,000 sheep rescued from Ganga
VARANASI, Sept. 1 -- At least 12 shepherds and more than 2,000 sheep stranded on an island-like patch in the Ganga near Duhia Saraiya village in Ghazipur were rescued after a sudden rise in the river level, officials said on Monday.
A joint police-administration team used night-vision drones to locate them in darkness before launching a six-hour operation with Pradeshik Armed Constabulary (PAC) flood personnel, police teams, officials and local boatmen.
All 12 shepherds and the sheep were brought to safety without any loss of life, according to the officials. htc...
