LUCKNOW, Oct. 1 -- Vikas Nagar police have registered a Gangsters Act case against three men convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for the December 2025 murder of a street vendor and a robbery in Lucknow, alleging that they operated as an organised gang for financial gain. The proceedings were initiated after the court took cognisance of the chargesheet in the murder and robbery case but concluded only after the trio were convicted and sentenced, police said on Wednesday. The case was registered on September 27 against Sonu, 28, Rahul alias Shiva, 25, and Dhanraj, 20, under Section 3(1) of the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act. The case relates to the December 30, 2025 robbery of Deepu Dwivedi in Chowk and the subsequent murder of street vendor Lalaram in Vikas Nagar, whom the accused allegedly targeted for money. Vikas Nagar police station in-charge Alok K Singh said Lalaram was known to the accused. "Every time he would earn money, they would snatch it. After repeated incidents, when the deceased threatened to complain to police, the men killed him," Singh said. According to the FIR, the three first robbed Deepu in Chowk late on December 30 and then travelled to Vikas Nagar, where they allegedly killed Lalaram. htc...
