LUCKNOW, Oct. 11 -- The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh has arrested a notorious fugitive, Hari Singh, also known as Harish and Bharat Bhushan, who had been on the run for over 17 years, officials said on Friday. The accused had been living in Punjab under a fake identity. He was wanted in a case registered under the Gangsters Act in Roorkee, Haridwar, and a reward of Rs 50,000 was announced for his capture. The STF had been tracking him for a long time and received information about his location. Acting on this intelligence, a team from Noida, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Naveendu Kumar, trapped and arrested him at Kalam Chowk in Roorkee, Haridwar. A private cab driver has been arrested for allegedly misbehaving with a female passenger and taking her on a wrong route. The action was taken by a joint team of Mahanagar police and the Anti-Romeo Squad under Mission Shakti, officials said on Friday. The woman stated in her complaint that around 10 pm on October 8, she booked a cab from Lucknow University to Sushant Golf City. She alleged that the driver deliberately deviated from the route and engaged in an altercation with her when she objected. "The driver allegedly left her midway near Vivekananda Hospital and behaved indecently. The victim contacted her family and lodged a complaint at the Mahanagar police station on October 9 (Thursday)," according to a press release issued on Friday. A dispute over Rs.25,000 led to a firing incident in Deen Dayal Puram, Takrohi, under Indira Nagar police station limits early Friday morning. Police arrested one accused while a search was underway for others involved, officials said. According to police, Farmaan Ali, the complainant, alleged that Adil Siddiqui, along with Yuvraj Singh, Babu Yadav, Mussu, Shivam Singh, and two unidentified individuals, arrived on two motorcycles and opened fire outside his house around 5 am on Friday. Though no one was injured, his car was damaged in the firing. Farmaan told the police that he had lent Rs.25,000 to Babu Yadav, but when he demanded repayment, Adil Siddiqui threatened him over the phone. Later, the group reached his house and fired several shots, he alleged. Based on the complaint, Indira Nagar police registered an FIR under sections 191(2), 125, 324(4), and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police have arrested Shivam Singh and launched a manhunt for the remaining accused, SHO Sunil Kumar Tiwari confirmed. Patrolling has been intensified in the area, while investigation is underway....
