Fuel conservation drive gains momentum in Prayagraj
PRAYAGRAJ, May 15 -- With the ongoing crisis in West Asia triggering global uncertainty, a fuel conservation campaign has gathered momentum in Prayagraj, with officials, public representatives and religious organisations backing the government's appeal to reduce fuel consumption.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to minimise use of petrol and diesel, has urged the public and government functionaries to actively support the initiative.

The Prayagraj Municipal Corporation has also joined the campaign. A meeting chaired by mayor Umesh Chandra Ganesh Kesarwani on Thursday discussed measures to reduce consumption of petrol, diesel and CNG. The mayor said councillors had decided to use two-wheelers instead of four-wheelers while visiting their respective wards. Deputy mayor Akhilesh Singh said public representatives believed it was important to stand united with the nation in the current global situation.
Religious and social organisations have also extended support to the campaign. The Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad has decided to limit the number of vehicles used by seers during travel.
Akhara Parishad president Shri Mahant Ravindra Puri said seers had been advised to prefer trains for long-distance travel and avoid moving in large convoys during the crisis period....
