From Meeting by the River to Vande Mataram, Bhatt casts a spell
LUCKNOW, April 30 -- Grammy Award-winner Vishwa Mohan Bhatt transformed a cultural evening in Lucknow into a deeply immersive, almost spiritual experience on Wednesday evening.
The highlight of Day 1 of the Awadh Region Conference, organised by the Prabha Khaitan Foundation under its Ehsaas initiative, was Bhatt's mesmerising performance on the Mohan Veena, the instrument he pioneered and made globally iconic.
Adding global resonance to the evening, Bhatt presented a glimpse from his Grammy-winning album Meeting by the River.
The performance gradually built into an emotional crescendo. Bhatt concluded the evening with soulful renditions of Geet Amar Kar Do and Aaj Jaane Ki Zid Na Karo, before closing with a stirring Vande Mataram-a finale that brought the audience to its feet in a resounding standing ovation.
He was accompanied by talented tabla artist Himanshu Mahant.
Honorary convenor, Delhi & NCR affairs, Prabha Khaitan Foundation, Neelima Dalmia Adhar, said the two-day Awadh Region Conference in Lucknow is aimed at shaping the organisation's roadmap for 2026-27.
"We are here to ideate and create new templates for the foundation's work in the coming year. This is essentially about building a roadmap-how we enhance our activities and expand our reach," she said....
