Lucknow, Sept. 3 -- Air Marshal (retd) Jeetendra Mishra, who headed Western Air Command during Operation Sindoor in 2025 and as a young Squadron Leader was part of the team that operationalised laser-guided bombs that pounded Pakistani intruders at Tiger Hill and Muntho Dhalo in Kargil 1999, is now the first full-time CEO of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. A decorated officer, Mishra was bestowed the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, and later the Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medal for his Operation Sindoor leadership. He belongs to Bhopatpura village in Bhatpar Rani area of Deoria district in eastern Uttar Pradesh. Mishra served in the Indian Air Force for four decades before retiring on April 30, 2026 as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Air Command. An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla (Pune), he was commissioned as a fighter pilot on December 6, 1986 and logged over 3,000 hours across 18-plus aircraft types. His new mission takes him from managing India's most sensitive air frontier - from Siachen to Rajasthan - to managing Ram Mandir's daily security, logistics and multi-crore finances. In his long Indian Air Force career, he held key command posts - commanding officer of a fighter squadron, chief test pilot at ASTE, Air Officer Commanding of two frontline air bases, director (Operational Planning and Assessment Group), principal director (ASR) and Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Projects) at Air HQ, Commandant ASTE and deputy chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Doctrine, Organisation & Training) and later (Operations). He is also alumnus of the Air Force Test Pilots School, Bangalore, Air Command and Staff College, USA and Royal College of Defence Studies, UK. He succeeded Air Marshal Pankaj Mohan Sinha who superannuated on December 31, 2024 after 39 years' service....
