Four school kids among five killed as train hits van at crossing in Bengal
Kolkata, July 18 -- Four school children and a cyclist were killed and another three kids and the driver of a pool car were injured after a passenger train hit the van, carrying school kids, and the cyclist at a manned level crossing in West Bengal's Murshidabad district on Friday.
"It is very tragic incident and painful for all of us. Four school children and a cyclist have been killed. Two children are undergoing treatment. The railway gateman has been arrested. Preliminary probe suggests that he was responsible for the incident," said Suvendu Adhikari, chief minister of West Bengal.
The incident took place around 6:40 am at a level crossing between Khagraghat Road and Karnasubarna railway stations near Berhampore. Police said that seven children were travelling in the SUV. P4...
