PRAYAGRAJ, May 14 -- Four people were killed and two others critically injured after a speeding car reportedly lost control and crashed into a divider on the Prayagraj-Kanpur National Highway near the Kamasin overbridge in the Saini area of Kaushambi district late Tuesday night, police said. According to officials, two occupants died on the spot while two others succumbed to injuries during treatment at a hospital. The victims, all residents of Fatehpur district, were returning to Baramtpur in Kokhraj, Kaushambi, after attending a baraat (wedding procession) in Sachauli when the accident occurred. The deceased were identified as Chhavinath Singh (50), a resident of Lilambarpur; Arvind Singh (35); Anil Singh (32); and driver Golu alias Rajesh (35), son of Amar Singh and a resident of Navipur in Hussainganj. Rajkumar Singh (55) and Shani Singh of Kadhiva village in Fatehpur sustained critical injuries. Station house officer (SO) Trilokinath Pandey said the group was travelling in a car driven by Golu alias Rajesh when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle near the Kamasin overbridge. The car rammed into the divider, he said, adding Anil Singh and Golu died on the spot. Local residents alerted the police, who rushed the injured to a nearby medical college hospital. They were later referred to SRN Hospital in Prayagraj, where Chhavinath Singh and Arvind Singh died during treatment, Pandey said, adding Rajkumar Singh and Shani Singh remain in critical condition.
