Four held for stealing electric wires
Varanasi, March 28 -- Police in Bhadohi arrested four persons on Friday for allegedly stealing electrical wires and cables. A police officer said police seized two pickup vehicles used in the crime were seized.
The team also recovered nine sacks containing around three quintals of materials, including LT wires, AB conductors and cables, along with Rs.2,500 in cash.
The arrested accused have been identified as Ilyas, 51, Shravan Kumar Bind, 25, and two juveniles aged 16. Police said they are habitual offenders involved in theft of government property, which affects essential services like electricity supply. During questioning, the accused said they were part of an organised gang led by Pawan Kumar Bind.
They admitted to stealing electric wires from different places in Prayagraj and Bhadohi districts. Police said the group carried out thefts by cutting wires at night, including an incident on the night of March 24-25,on their gang leader's instructions. Further investigation is underway....
