Four dead as speeding car rams parked truck on Ganga expressway
Kanpur, June 13 -- Four men were killed on Friday afternoon when their speeding car crashed into a stationary truck on the Ganga expressway in Unnao district, police said. While two died on the spot, two others succumbed to injuries during treatment.
The collision occurred around 4 pm near kilometre 387.6 under the Aseewan police station area. Witnesses told police the Tata Punch car was travelling at over 100 kilometres per hour when it hit the truck from behind. The truck had been parked on the roadside due to a mechanical failure.
The car's front section was completely crushed in the impact.
The deceased have been identified as Uday Singh, 26, and Anupam Gupta, 32, both residents of Jafarpur in Phoolpur, Prayagraj; and Vijay, 25, and Aman, 28, residents of Babuganj town in Phoolpur. All four were from Prayagraj district.
SHO, Aseewan, Pradeep Singh arrived at the scene with police personnel and has begun an investigation.
He said empty beer bottles were recovered from inside the car. Police said they suspect the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, though confirmation will await forensic examination. htc...
