AYODHYA, Feb. 14 -- A case has been registered at Bikapur tehsil kotwali police station in Ayodhya district against four unidentified individuals for allegedly selling off a piece of land in Koro Raghopur village belonging a person who died over two decades ago for Rs 75 lakh by impersonation and forged documents. Ayodhya police circle officer Piyush Kumar confirmed that the case was registered on the complaint of the victim Nandan Srivastava on February 5 earlier this month against the fake landowner, broker and two witnesses to the 'sale deed'. He said a detailed probe into the matter was in progress and strict action will be taken against the culprits. Nandan Srivastava, a retired GM of a public sector bank, said in his complaint that his ancestral 1.404 hectare land (over 1.51 lakh square feet) is registered in the name of his father Brijnandan Prasad who died in 2002. On 17 December 2025, the registry of this land was allegedly done in the name of a famous Delhi-based real estate company, he claimed. During the registry, no verification of the deceased's real identity was done nor were the documents verified, the police alleged.
