four arrested for assaulting b.h.e.l employee, demanding Rs.5L
Haridwar, Sept. 6 -- Four men were arrested on Saturday in Haridwar district for allegedly assaulting, threatening and demanding a sum of Rs.5 lakh from a Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) employee in Ranipur, police said.
The accused were identified as Harvinder Singh, Akash, Rishabh and Himanshu, all from Najibabad in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor district.
Investigators said all were unemployed and did odd jobs for a living. "They were arrested from New Tehri Dam Rehabilitation Colony," said Bhandari.
Ranipur SHO Manohar Singh Bhandari said the complainant was a BHEL employee Mohit Chaudhary, who lodged a complaint on August 13.
Chaudhary alleged that four men, later identified as the accused, intercepted him at and beat him brutally with sticks and a belt before demanding Rs.5 lakh and threatening dire consequences if he approached the police.
They also allegedly snatched the keys of his Bullet motorcycle....
