Former village head found murdered
VARANASI, July 25 -- A 70-year-old former village head was found murdered in a hut near his tubewell on the outskirts of Udaha village in the Sahatwar police station area of Ballia on Friday morning, police said.
The deceased was identified as former village head Ram Vyas Verma, 70. Police suspect that an old enmity with a local person may have led to the murder.
According to locals, a woman who had gone to pluck vegetables from a field on Friday morning saw Verma's blood-soaked body lying on a cot and raised an alarm. Hearing her cries, family members and villagers reached the tubewell. They found Verma lying on the cot with his throat slit and blood oozing from the wound.
On receiving the information, Bansdih circle officer Jaishankar Mishra and Sahatwar station officer Prashant Chaudhary reached the spot. They took the body into possession and sent it for post-mortem examination.
The deceased's son, Ajay Verma 'Guddu', filed a complaint with the police against unknown assailants. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered under Section 103 (murder) and other relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the CO said.htc...
