Forged PMC salary slips used to secure loans; probe on
PRAYAGRAJ, July 9 -- An alleged loan fraud involving forged salary slips of Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC) employees has come under police investigation after the Bank of Baroda found suspected fake documents used to secure loans in the names of 10 civic staff members.
The alleged fraud surfaced during an internal review at the bank's Bahadurganj branch, which detected irregularities in loans sanctioned against salary documents purportedly issued to PMC employees. Preliminary findings indicate that pay slips of 10 PMC employees were allegedly used to obtain loans fraudulently.
Following the bank's complaint, Kotwali police issued a notice to the PMC under Section 94 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), seeking verification of the employees' service records and salary details submitted with the loan applications. The PMC has assigned the inquiry to the additional municipal commissioner, who will coordinate the verification process. Officials will compare the service and salary records maintained by the PMC with the documents submitted to the bank to determine whether the pay slips were genuine or fabricated.
GP Pandey, in-charge of the Bahadurganj police outpost and the investigating officer, said the probe is underway on the basis of the complaint lodged by the Bank of Baroda.htc...
