Lucknow, Aug. 27 -- In a late-night crackdown ahead of the festive season, the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) inspected 97 food-laden vehicles across Uttar Pradesh between midnight on August 25 and dawn on August 26. Officials found irregularities in 28 vehicles, collected 35 samples for laboratory testing and destroyed around 16.3 quintals of food products worth nearly Rs 20 lakh. The drive covered toll plazas, highways and connecting roads in several districts, with paneer, khoya, milk, namkeen and sweets among the products seized.In Mathura, about 1,200 kg of paneer was destroyed after officials found its quality and transportation conditions suspicious. Meerut saw the destruction of 10 quintals of unhygienically transported khoya, while 1,670 kg of khoya was seized in Pilkhuwa-Hapur. In Aligarh, 7,000 litres of suspected adulterated milk was destroyed. FSDA commissioner Roshan Jacob said the samples would undergo laboratory testing, with legal action to follow wherever violations are established....
