Agra, April 25 -- The Women's College Literary Society of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) began its three-day literary festival, Literati 2026, with an inaugural ceremony celebrating literature and creative expression on Friday. Chief guest prof Vibha Sharma spoke about the lasting importance of literature in shaping ideas, expression and identity. She encouraged students to take part in literary activities and stressed the value of meaningful discussions, critical thinking and preserving one's mother tongue in the digital age. She also urged students to use such platforms to build confidence and express themselves. The programme began with a welcome address by the principal of women's college. Faculty members also spoke about the role of literary societies in encouraging creativity and academic involvement among students. The official poster of Literati 2026 was unveiled during the event. The first day also featured a debate competition on whether student activism and protests disrupt institutional neutrality on political issues. Students participated enthusiastically.
