Five cyber fraudsters held in Delhi forduping Kashi resident of Rs 12.5 lakh
VARANASI, July 2 -- Five cyber criminals, including the gang leader, who were involved in online insurance policy fraud, were arrested from Delhi on Wednesday, said Varanasi commissionerate police. Mobile phones and cash used in the crime were recovered from their possession, police said. The accused have been identified as Shiv Kumar Gautam, 28, Aman Kumar, 20, Vishnu Kumar, 21, Rahul Kumar, 25, and Alok Singh, 31.
On May 11, a resident of Varanasi submitted an application at Cyber Crime Police Station in Varanasi stating that he was duped by some unknown cyber criminals posing as an employee and officer of a private insurance company who cheated him of Rs. 12.5 lakh. The accused promised to pay the premium of the insurance policy, get it updated and get the benefits. Taking action on the complaint, as per the orders and instructions of the higher officials, FIR was registered under Section 318(4) BNS and 66D IT Act at this police station and inspector Vijay Narayan Mishra was appointed for probe, said assistant commissioner of police, Cyber Crime, Vidush Saxena. A police team was deployed to uncover the incident and sent for a search. The team arrested five criminals from Delhi on July 1 from whom mobile phones and cash were recovered, said ACP Saxena. The cyber criminals involved in the incident committed cyber fraud by leaking the data of various persons who were insurance policy holders in the past and trapped them on the pretext of paying the premium, updating the policy, and providing them the benefits. htc...
