Fisherman found murdered in Kaushambi
PRAYAGRAJ, June 21 -- A 55-year-old fisherman from Bihar, who had been fishing at Alwara Lake in Kaushambi for nearly 20 years, was allegedly murdered. His blood-stained body was found in a field near a cowshed in Paur Kanshirampur village on Saturday morning, police said.
The deceased was identified as Brahmdev Sahni, son of Nageshwar Sahni and a resident of Bahilwara Bhual Uttari village in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar. He had been living in a temporary camp near Alwara Lake under the Mahevaghat police station area and earned his livelihood through fishing.
Police have registered a murder case against the lake watchman, identified as Bawali, and his unidentified associates on a complaint filed by the victim's cousin. Four suspects, including the named accused, have been detained for questioning.
According to the complaint, Bawali took Brahmdev with him on Friday afternoon, saying they were going to the market. However, he returned alone at around 9 pm. When family members asked about Brahmdev, he allegedly abused them and threatened them. The family searched for Brahmdev throughout the night.
