Firozabad police arrest man for murder of minor girl
AGRA, Aug. 31 -- Firozabad police on Saturday arrested a man accused of murdering a minor girl and recovered her mobile phone, which he had allegedly taken after the crime.
According to police, the accused lured the girl with ill intention but, failing in his plans, allegedly strangled her with a rope before fleeing with her phone. The case was registered at the Rajawali police station on August 27, when the girl's body was found.
Police said the girl had gone with her father to feed goats. Her father had handed over his phone to her before moving away for some work. On his return, he could not find her, and the phone was found switched off. The body was later recovered from a millet field near the roadside.
Initially registered under Section 137(2) (kidnapping) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the case was later updated to include Section 103(1) (murder), Section 238 (causing disappearance of evidence), and Sections 11/12 of the POCSO Act.
SSP Saurabh Dixit formed five teams, which arrested the accused, identified as Dhyan Pal alias Pappu, near Tundla road. On interrogation, he revealed the phone's location, leading to its recovery.
In a separate case, Trans Yamuna police in Agra arrested a 23-year-old man, identified as Chotu, accused of raping a minor girl in Radha Nagar. Police said the accused was injured in an encounter before being arrested....
