JHANSI, April 19 -- Panic spread in the Mauranipur area of Jhansi district on Saturday morning after a massive fire broke out in nearly half a dozen shops located near Damele Inter College. The blaze rapidly engulfed multiple establishments, including those dealing in clothes, footwear, bags and stationery, destroying goods estimated to be worth several lakhs of rupees. According to initial information, flames were first noticed rising from one of the shops at around 8 am. Within minutes, the fire intensified and spread to adjacent establishments, triggering panic and chaos in the area. Upon receiving the alarm, the administration and police rushed to the scene. Sub-divisional magistrate Shweta Sahu, circle officer Jitendra Singh and Kotwali in-charge Mukesh Kumar Singh arrived with personnel to initiate relief operations. Fire brigade teams also rushed to the scene and managed to bring the blaze under control after sustained efforts. SDM Shweta Sahu stated that the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, though a short circuit is suspected in preliminary discussions.
