Fire breaks out at sealed Sundar Lal Yadav College
PRAYAGRAJ, Feb. 8 -- A fire broke out at Sundar Lal Yadav College in Pratapgarh district on Friday night, police said on Saturday. After receiving the information, police and fire department personnel rushed to the spot, and brought the blaze under control with the help of local villagers.
Police also examined CCTV footage from nearby areas.
Based on a complaint filed by sub-inspector Amarnath Singh of Manikpur police station, a case has been registered against unknown persons for allegedly breaking open the sealed gate and setting fire to bushes inside the college campus.
Manikpur SHO Narendra Singh said that no college property was damaged and only the overgrown bushes were burnt. He added that an investigation is underway to identify those responsible.
The college belongs to Samajwadi Party district president Chhavinath Yadav. Following a district magistrate's order dated September 24, 2025, several of his properties were seized due to multiple criminal cases, and gangster proceedings were initiated against him.
As part of the action, Sundar Lal Yadav College was attached, with its gate locked and sealed by then SDM Satish Tripathi with the assistance of police and PAC.htc...
