FIR against 4 for using fake caste certificates in police recruitment
VARANASI, Aug. 30 -- An FIR was registered against four youths in Sonbhadra for allegedly using fake caste certificates to secure recruitment as constables in the Uttar Pradesh Police, officials said.
According to an officer, the youths, who belong to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category in Madhya Pradesh, had procured fraudulent caste certificates from Ghorawal tehsil in Sonbhadra by posing as Scheduled Castes.
They allegedly furnished false domicile details, claiming to be residents of Diwan village, Ghorawal post, to obtain the certificates.
Verification revealed that the accused are originally residents of Singrauli district in Madhya Pradesh. Umesh Kumar Vaishya belongs to Village Majhigwa, Garhwa police station, tehsil Chitrangi; Vijay Kumar hails from Tamai Khaidar, Garhwa; Rakesh Singh Vais from Bargawan; and Deepak Kumar Vais from Pachhuar, Devsar. All four belong to the Baiswar caste, which is categorised as OBC in Madhya Pradesh, officials said.
Superintendent of police, Sonbhadra, Ashok Kumar Meena said the fraud was detected during verification of recruitment documents.
"The candidates used fake caste certificates to avail reservation benefits. The Ghorawal tehsildar has cancelled their caste certificates, and a detailed report has been sent to the police recruitment board for cancellation of their candidature," he said.
Inspector Ram Swaroop Verma confirmed that an FIR had been lodged against the four accused and that investigation was underway....
