PRAYAGRAJ, April 26 -- A 19-year-old youth was allegedly murdered by his father in Kareli area of Prayagraj in the early hours of Saturday. The accused, identified as Girish Chandra alias Pappu Jaiswal, was arrested after the incident. Police said he suspected an illicit relationship between his wife and their son. The victim, Priyanshu, was the eldest of three brothers and earned a living by running a vegetable cart. According to police, the accused often quarrelled with his wife and was addicted to intoxicants. On Friday night, he again argued with her. After the dispute, Priyanshu took his mother to her maternal home in Meerapur for safety. Later, Priyanshu returned home and went to sleep in a ground-floor room. His younger brothers, aged 13 and 10, slept on the terrace. Police said the accused attacked Priyanshu while he was asleep, hitting him several times with a heavy blunt object. He then locked the room from outside and fled. He also allegedly locked the staircase door leading to the terrace. In the morning, the younger boys found the staircase locked and noticed blood coming from under the door of the ground-floor room. Their cries alerted neighbours and subsequent actions....
