PRAYAGRAJ, June 2 -- A 55-year-old farmer was allegedly murdered with a sharp-edged weapon in Chakia village under the Karma outpost area of Ghurpur police station late on Sunday night. The deceased, Tilakdhari Bhartiya, was found dead while sleeping in the veranda of his house. Police teams, along with ACP Kaudhiyara Abdus Salam Khan and SHO Atul Kumar Mishra, reached the spot after receiving information. The body was sent for post-mortem examination and a forensic team collected evidence. Family members said Tilakdhari had gone to sleep after dinner. Around 2 am, his wife, Shimla Devi, noticed blood on his cot and raised an alarm. Relatives and neighbours found him with fatal head injuries, apparently caused by a sharp-edged weapon. Police suspect the murder may be linked to a dispute that arose after Tilakdhari's nephew, Shivam Bhartiya, allegedly eloped with a neighbour's daughter two weeks ago. The couple later reportedly married in court, leading to tension between the two families. Relatives alleged that the girl's family had been threatening them since the incident. Following the murder, members of the accused family are said to have fled. SHO Atul Kumar Mishra said all angles were being investigated and efforts were on to trace members of the accused family.
