Farmer beaten to death byson; accused held: Police
KAUSHAMBI, June 14 -- A 45-year-old farmer was allegedly beaten to death by his son June 8 night while he was asleep at his home in Rampur Suhela village under the Kokhraj police station area of Kaushambi district. The victim succumbed to his injuries during treatment at SRN Hospital in Prayagraj on June 11, police said.
According to police, the deceased, Suresh Kumar, had been involved in a family dispute with his son, Raju. His wife, Somiya Devi, alleged that on that night, the accused returned home in an intoxicated condition and attacked his sleeping father with a stick.
She said Raju repeatedly struck Suresh on the head and other parts of the body, leaving him critically injured. When family members raised an alarm, the accused allegedly threatened them and fled the scene.
The injured farmer was rushed to the district medical college hospital and later referred to SRN Hospital in Prayagraj due to the severity of his condition. He died during treatment. The post-mortem examination was conducted at SRN Hospital mortuary.
Based on a complaint lodged by the deceased's wife, Kokhraj police registered an FIR under BNS Section 103(1) for murder and arrested the accused. After questioning, he was sent to jail on June 12.
Deputy superintendent of police Satyendra Tiwari on Saturday said that the father and son had been at odds over family issues for some time.
"The accused is known to be of unstable temperament and is addicted to alcohol. He attacked his father while under the influence of liquor. A case has been registered and the accused has been arrested," the officer said....
