Familiar Faces Fiesta: AU alumni reunite in grand celebration
PRAYAGRAJ, March 1 -- University of Allahabad hosted its alumni meet, "Familiar Faces Fiesta", on Saturday at the prof Ishwar Tope Auditorium on the Senate Campus. The event began with a ceremonial lamp lighting by vice-chancellor Sangita Srivastava, along with Alumni Association president Heramb Chaturvedi, secretary prof Kumar Birendra and prof Ajay Jaitly.
The meet was attended by Supreme Court judge Vikram Nath, former Supreme Court judge Vineet Saran, former RBI executive director Deepali Pant Joshi and other alumni. In her address, prof Srivastava called alumni the pride of the university and said they remain deeply connected to its legacy. She said 400 faculty members from 15 countries have joined in recent years. The university has introduced over 190 skill-based courses under the National Education Policy, constructed 15 new buildings, upgraded sports facilities and is building three new auditoriums. She also said the university received an A+ grade from NAAC for the first time.
Prof Chaturvedi welcomed guests and praised efforts to strengthen alumni engagement. Prof Birendra said the association has organised several events in two years. The programme included the release of prof Jaya Kapoor's poetry book and the announcement of garden competition results.
Prof Srivastava also inaugurated an art exhibition and food gallery at Nirala Art Gallery. Alumni enjoyed Indian delicacies prepared by students. Dr Pragya Sharma and Himanshu Bajpai narrated the story of Rani of Jhansi. The evening ended with a poetry meet at Banyan Lawn featuring Ashok Chakradhar, Sunil Jogi and Wasim Barelvi....
