PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 8 -- The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) lodged a police complaint after a fake notification regarding the recruitment of 11,508 assistant teachers in government-run primary schools circulated on social media ahead of the recruitment process. The forged document, issued on the letterhead of a fictitious "Uttar Pradesh New Education Service Selection Commission" instead of the UPESSC, falsely claimed that the academic merit criterion had been scrapped. It also carried the name and forged signature of commission chairperson and former DGP Prashant Kumar. UPESSC deputy secretary and PRO Sanjay Singh submitted a complaint to Colonelganj police station along with screenshots of the social media accounts from which the fake document circulated, seeking legal action. Singh said some individuals and organisations were illegally using the commission's name, logo and letterhead to spread misleading and false information on social media. He clarified that the viral notification was not issued by the commission and had no connection with it. The commission urged candidates and the public not to trust or forward information circulating on unauthorised platforms, stating that all authentic notifications, examination schedules and recruitment updates are published only on the commission's official website. Meanwhile, the UPESSC postponed the written examination scheduled for August 19 for recruitment to 107 assistant professor (BEd) posts (Advertisement No. 51) in government-aided degree colleges. Sanjay Singh said the examination had been deferred because a petition related to the recruitment is pending before the Allahabad high court....
