AGRA, Sept. 20 -- Five people, including the son of a retired CMO, were arrested on Saturday for allegedly running a fake paramedical college and university and facilitating admissions to various courses using forged educational documents, senior superintendent of police Ilamaran G said. The arrests followed an investigation into a fake kidnapping complaint involving the principal of a medical college in Etah that was reported a few days ago. According to information, the fake medical college and university was operating in the name of a man who sold tea on the 'university' campus in the Marhara area of Etah district. Etah police arrested Satyendra Singh, the alleged mastermind who posed as the vice-chancellor and principal, along with the manager and three faculty members of BS Medical College and University operating since 2022. Gaurav Agarwal, son of a retired CMO, was also arrested. Police said Agarwal acted as a link between students and the fake institution and served as its faculty head. The university was named after Bhagwan Dass, a tea seller who was allegedly unaware that the institution bore his name and that he had been listed as its chairman, police said. Addressing the media at Etah police lines on Saturday, the Etah ASP Shwetabh Pandey said the police received information at Marhara police station on September 16 about the alleged kidnapping of a principal of a medical college in Marhara area. The complainant, Ram Sewak, told police that his brother, Satyendra Singh, had been abducted from BS College and University by three men in a car, who demanded Rs.2 lakh for his release. A case was registered at Marhara police station and four teams were formed to trace the accused. "Based on mobile phone location, the alleged kidnappers were arrested and the 'principal' was recovered from Agra," said Etah ASP Shwetabh Pandey. "The alleged kidnappers turned out to be students who had paid the principal for admission, but were later told their admissions had been cancelled," ASP Pandey said. When they sought a refund, the principal asked them to come to Agra. He then called his brother from a student's phone and instructed him to file a kidnapping case based on the call, police said....
