Eyesight of 374 patients restored during Mega Surgical Eye Camp
GORAKHPUR, Feb. 28 -- An ophthalmic team from the Indian Army and Air Force restored the eyesight of 374 patients during the 'Mega Advanced Surgical Eye Camp,' which concluded on Friday at the 12 Air Force Hospital (AFH), Gorakhpur, a Press Information Bureau (PIB) statement said.
The closing ceremony was attended by Air Marshal B Manikantan, AOC-in-C, central air command. This was followed by high-level inspections conducted by surgeon vice admiral Arti Sarin, director general armed forces medical services and air marshal Sandeep Thareja, director general medical services (Air), the statement added.
"A record-breaking 374 life-changing surgeries were performed with relentless dedication," the statement noted. "The camp performed more than 100 successful operations on its very first day. The camp became a beacon of hope for the entire eastern UP region, drawing patients from the neighbouring country of Nepal."
